What style of wedding photography should you choose?

Are you overwhelmed with all of the wedding photography styles you see? I will be honest with you, there are so many wedding photographers, with so many types of styles, so many budgets to think through, and you are a little lost where to start on this once in a lifetime investment?

Well, here is what I always encourage my brides to think through. What will stand the test of time? Yes, I love a trendy edit as much as the next person! it really looks so good and fun on your instagram, but will it look dated in five years? What style of photo do you see and think, “Wow what a fun picture!” But maybe the focus isn’t on the couple in the photo but the edit itself.

If this is your style then that is absolutely okay, and you should pick your photography style based on what YOU want! Not what me, your mom, and great aunt Linda think you should do! But, as a wedding photographer can I tell you something?

Hiring a photographer who focuses on the authentic moments to capture them in a timeless and elegant style is the one who will stand the test of time. The ones that you look at and see that the couple in the photo really love each other. That the joy on their faces is genuine and real. That is the kind of style of wedding photography I hope you choose. It’s the kind where it can be light and airy, moody, soft and romantic, or full of color based on the MOMENT and the couple!
