I am someone who grew up in a family where photos are the way we share our stories. I mean we are talking about boxes and boxes of photos in closets that document every part of generations from my family. I have always seen moments through framing, light captured, moments to remember, and leaving a moment knowing I will get to remember it through a photo later. That is why this job means so much to me! I have built it on a family that valued documenting mundane and monumental moments through photos.
As a mom to three small kids, wife for almost a decade, and photographer I still see moments this way. But the moments matter so much more now. I know that our wedding photos are what we look at every year on our anniversary and retell our favorite moments. I know that newborn wrinkles, chubby toddler cheeks, and any smallness of kids is quickly fleeting. Photos are more than a Christmas card every year! It’s your family’s story.
My why
My why is simple. I think that everyone deserves to have beautiful images of themselves just as they are. Wherever you find yourself in life I want to invite you to completely be yourself, not some dressed up perfect version. When the toddler falls as soon as they get out of the car for photos, the veil gets ditched right when you walk down the aisle, the baby who never cries decides that today is the day to meltdown for 2 hours. With me, there isn’t judgment, There’s freedom to simply exist as you are while I take photos you never want to forget.
What to Expect with Me
I try not to take life too seriously, but I take your documenting memories seriously. While we are together you can anticipate a lot of communication. I want to hear your story, funny moments that you’ve had in your week, and help you feel at ease. I will be steadily clicking my camera as the smiles happen, but first we need to both trust this process. I work to be a calming presence to every situation, to read the room, be assertive when needed, and also know when to quietly let the moment unfold without interruption. That’s the luxury of working with me. Confident, calm, and here to document every moment.
