An Arkansas Summer Wedding

Mark & Holly married in September!

So you want to have an Arkansas summer wedding! I am guessing you love the warm summer evenings, beautiful golden hour, all of the green trees, and the tans that come with this season. Be prepared for folks to say, “The summer!? You know it’s gonna be hot!” Yes, you know it will be hot, but will it be worth it? I think so!

As an Arkansas wedding photographer I have specific tips give my brides to make their summer wedding enjoyable for everyone! While we can’t control the weather there are a few things to think about in your budget, venue, and timing for ceremony and photos. Let’s look at them together!

  1. Venue

    • This is huge. If you are wanting to have an outdoor cocktail hour you are going to want to make sure there is plenty of shade in after the time of your ceremony! This helps guests stay cool, provides shade for photos, and leads to a better overall experience.

    • If you are having an outdoor ceremony think through the position of the sun at the time you plan to start. This can help knowing if you are going to be squinting throughout your ceremony!

  2. Budget Items

    • Hear me out, handheld fans! These are very popular right now and serve as a dual purpose. As guests walk in they can grab a fan before they sit down, some vendors even offer to have the schedule of events printed on the fans, and it is a really thoughtful touch!

    • Fans for you and your partner! I always bring my bride and groom small handheld battery powered fans. They help keep the sweat at bay and offer a much needed breeze!

    • A stylish handkerchief that can be your sweat rag if needed! I had a groom who had a handkerchief that he could easily pull out of his pocket to dab his forehead when needed, and it made his day go so much better!

  3. Drinks

    • Having ice cold drinks readily available is a game changer! Talk to your venue vendor to see what they can offer you, or what you can bring in!

This is one of my favorite things as your wedding photographer to help you think through! I want to make sure you are able to enjoy your wedding day as much as possible, yes even during the hot summer months, and provide you with beautiful photos of your wedding day!
