How much should you spend on your wedding photographer?

This is a question that I know every engaged couple thinks of! So, how much should you plan on budgeting for your wedding photographer? Before we get to the numbers part of this I always want you to think through a few questions.

First is, what moments of your day do you want to always remember? If you want photos of your girls and you having THE BEST time getting glammed and snacking on treats then you want to make sure your photographer is there! Do you want every single person captured, with the beautiful and organic moments that happen in between, and the perfect send off? You are going to want full day coverage, which will cost more, but can be completely worth it to you.

What else do you need to consider when thinking through photography budget? Let’s be serious here, your budget does take a huge role in this. You should not let yourself become bankrupt because you chose a photographer out of your budget. With that in mind, I do think that photography should be one of your biggest budget items. Why? Because you only have your wedding day once. This is a moment that will have your favorite people gathered together for the sole purpose of celebrating the love between you and your fiancé.

That is a big deal! Having a photographer that not only captures all the right shots, but also cares for you as a couple is something that money can’t buy. You could seek out the highest budget photographer, but what if they don’t understand your goals for your wedding? What if they care more for the shot than they do about what YOU want on your wedding day? Well, it probably means that they weren’t the best fit. But, can I change role here? Quality photographers that care about you and your images often come at a higher price point.

Is all of that clear as mud? Probably so! At the end of the day you need to know your budget, decide how much wiggle room you are comfortable with, find a photographer that gives you quality work, cares about your unique wedding, and makes sure YOU are at the center of your wedding day. Sound good? If that sounds like what you are looking for I would love to chat with you! Head over to my “inquire” page and let’s start talking!
