First Look or See You Down the Aisle?
Here comes the big question, no not THAT question you already answered THAT big question. The question I am bringing up is if you will do a first look or see each other for the first time walking down the aisle? As a wedding photographer I have seen many of both. Personally, I really adore a first look! But, there is a really traditional aspect to seeing each other as you are about to become husband and wife. So, let’s chat it out!
What is a first look on your wedding day? A first look is when you set apart time on your wedding day for your husband and you to see each other for the first time. It can be as intimate as you would like! Usually, it is you, your fiancé, your photographer, and videographer in a more secluded area so that you can turn to each other and really take one another in. You have time to see all of the details of the bride’s dress, the color of his socks, to be with your person before the rest of the wedding day gets going. You have time to smile at one another, kiss, hug, take a breath, and have your nerves settled because you have just seen your best friend. If I get a vote, it would probably be for a first look.
But! I have had the honor of seeing really beautiful first looks being when you are walking down the aisle. It is the more traditional route that is no less special than a pre ceremony first look. The music that you hand picked is playing, all of your family and friends are there with you, you have your best friends beside you, and then it happens. The doors open and you finally see each other! Everyone else seems to go away and it is just the two of you watching each other get closer and closer. You make it down the aisle, and now you get to marry your best friend.
